Tapton School sixth form students have been carrying out scientific research in the school laboratories since 2012.
Their aim is to use the zebrafish model organism to identify novel molecular and genetic mechanisms in cardiovascular disease. This research is performed with the support from the laboratory of Dr Tim Chico in the Bateson Centre, Department of Biomedical Science at the University of Sheffield, and funded by the Wellcome Trust Authentic Biology Project. We are one of a growing number of schools doing real scientific research, for more information about how far young scientists can go and what they achieve visit the Institute for Science Research website....inspirationa stuff! |
